Look. At this point, we’re just going to all have to live with the fact that whatever former prime minister and one half of Malaysia’s cutest old couple Dr Mahathir Mohamed does is newsworthy, because he just looks so damn adorable doing it. (Sort of like Kim Jong Un looking at things.)
Case in point: last weekend Dr M was strolling through Avenue K’s LRT station when he chanced upon a band of buskers performing at the underground complex. We’ll let the Genji Buskers relate the experience themselves, via their Facebook post:
Apparently, Mahathir had been checking out the buskers’ performance for a few minutes before stepping forward to startle the bejeezus out of them … and to pass the troubadours a neat RM50 tip. Note Dr M’s wife, Dr Siti Hasmah, looking on appreciatively in the background.
No telling if Mahathir put in a request for his favourite song: Frank Sinatra’s ‘I Did It My Way’.
