Two days of rallying it up with the yellow-clad folks of Bersih 4 seemed to have got ex-prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a zoom-in from the police.
The New Straits Times quotes Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar as saying that Dr Mahathir — who has openly called for the ouster of PM Najib Razak over the 1Malaysia Development Board controversy — will be called in for questioning for statements made during the 34-hour long rally.
“In his speech, he had made all sorts of accusations. We want to know further and where he had obtained the information,” Khalid was quoted as saying.
“One example is Mahathir had said that Umno division chiefs had received bribes. I hope he will give his cooperation,” he was quoted further.
Dr Mahathir had made a quick stopover at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday, telling protesters to ‘teruskan, teruskan’ (carry on, carry on) before leaving a short while after. He returned on Sunday with ex-Umno minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim and openly called for ‘people power’ to oust Najib.

Taking to the streets was a surprising turn for the 90-year-old political giant who was known, among other things, for his forceful objection to street rallies during his 22-year-reign.
