Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi dangled a giant carrot in front of the Selangor chapter of the Barisan Nasional political coalition yesterday, pledging two positions in Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Cabinet as a reward for retaking the state from the Federal Opposition.
“If we win Selangor in the next General Elections, I will offer two full Cabinet ministers to Selangor Barisan Nasional,” The Malay Mail quotes him as saying yesterday at the Petaling Jaya-Selatan UMNO division meeting.
Selangor has not been under BN rule since 2008, and is currently under the control of Menteri Besar Azmin Ali of PKR, bolstered by support from DAP and PAS state assemblypersons.
The three opposition parties were previously partners in the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, which has since been dissolved.
