Deputy Education Minister Attack: MIC Youth Wants Punishment

MIC Youth is riled over the assault on Deputy Education Minister P Kalamanathan in his constituency in Hulu Selangor, and is asking the UMNO Youth leader allegedly responsible for the “wild” attack to be punished, the movement told the Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth leadership yesterday.

MIC Youth reps further said that the assault against the Hulu Selangor MP, who is from the MIC, has brought shame on the BN Youth, within which both movements are supposedly allies.

Shanker Raj, head of the MIC Youth in Selangor, said in a statement: “The MIC Youth in Selangor wholly condemns the ill-mannered actions of the secretary of the Hulu Selangor branch of Umno Youth through his wild actions that injured Kamalanathan that the latter organised.

“The main leadership of BN Youth must take action against the individual for his uncontrollable and overly emotional acts.”

Kalamanathan lodged a report over the attack yesterday morning, and police are investigating the complaint under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

The UMNO Youth leader allegedly responsible for the assault is believed to still be at large.
