Depressed woman commits suicide in Shah Alam lake

A tragic scene unfolded in Section 14, Shah Alam  yesterday when a woman decided to take her own life by drowning in a lake there.

A passer-by had seen the 29-year-old jumping into the lake near Bangunan Darul Ehsan around 4pm, the New Straits Times’ Eunice Au reports. But by the time information went over to the police, it was too late to save her.

“When police arrived at the scene, the Fire and Rescue Department personnel were at the location trying to retrieve the victim. She was certified dead on the spot by medical personnel from an ambulance that was despatched to the scene,” Shah Alam district police chief ACP Azisman Alias told the daily.

The woman, he reportedly said, had suffered from depression and had on several occasions lamented the fact that she was unmarried.
