Dengue: 87 developers in Selangor to face the law

For allowing their constructions sites to turn into breeding grounds for mosquitoes, 87 developers in Selangor have been taken to court.

Stop work orders — 74 of them — have been issued so far to get everyone to clean up, the New Straits Times reports.

Quoting Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the daily said that 102 sites had been inspected between Feb 10 and March 6.

“The ministry had implemented numerous measures to reduce the current number of dengue fever, which includes joint-operations on enforcement in construction sites in Selangor,” he was quoted as saying.

In the first week of March, 2,643 cases of dengue, including 12 deaths were reported.
