A dead body believed to be a Malaysian man was reportedly found in a ditch in Teluk Mengkudu, Indonesia on Wednesday.
According to a report by Indonesian website medansatu.com cited by Bernama, North Sumatra Police reportedly found a Malaysian Airlines (MAS) ticket stub in the man’s pocket.
The man was reportedly found with bruise marks on his face and body, believed to be caused by it being dragged.
Initial investigations revealed that the ticket was dated November 14 for a flight from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to the Kualanamu International Airport in Medan.
A Teluk Mengkudu police spokersperson told the news portal that the police did not find any identification papers on the man’s body.
However, MAS officials have confirmed the ticket and that the man was 65 years old. Further investigations revealed that the the man had arrived from Selangor at 7pm on Monday.
The body was reportedly sent to the Bhayangkara Hospital in Medan for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Consulate-General in Medan are currently working closely with Indonesian officials to identify the man.
