Like they say, if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
That was what beauty products entrepreneur Datuk Vida did, as she has decided to stop sponsoring Super League team Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors (PQPTRW) next season.
According to a report by Harian Metro, translated by The Star Online, the 44-year-old is unhappy over the team’s inconsistent showing on the pitch.
This season, the Red Warriors has drawn and lost their last nine games.
“I have done a lot for the Red Warriors squad but it is very disappointing, especially its performance. Apart from having to spend a lot of money, I have also been mocked on social media after getting involved in football.
“There were many things that people have said, some stinging comments and it hurts, especially after what I have done for the team,” she was quoted as saying.
The businesswoman, whose real name is Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, told the Malay daily that she had already forked out more than RM3 million for the team, with RM1.7 million spent on players’ wages alone.
But she reckoned that fans did not give her the respect she deserved.
“I just want Kelantan to appreciate my sacrifices. The slump in their performance actually also affects my image and product sales.
“In fact, a lot of my plans for Kelantan remain unfulfilled, including the construction of PQPTRW Hotel,” she was further quoted as saying.
Back in January, Dr Vida signed a RM16 million sponsorship deal with the Kelantan Football Association.
