A Datuk Seri accidentally killed his wife after he reportedly rammed into her on Thursday, according to a report by The Star Online.
The 59-year-old man was reportedly making a U-turn after exiting the Bukit Istana residential area in Kuantan when his wife, who had just returned home from shopping, got down from her son-in-law’s vehicle and tried to wave her husband down as she wanted a lift.
However, the Datuk Seri couldn’t stop his Range Rover in time and rammed into her.
As a result of the impact, the 57-year-old woman was reportedly flung away from the vehicle and suffered several broken bones, as well as bleeding from the nose and mouth.
The husband and son-in-law rushed her to a nearby medical center, but she died a few hours later.
“According to the witness statement, she was on her way to a religious programme at about 9pm on Thursday. She was already late so she tried to wave down her husband’s car.
“However, her action was sudden and her husband did not see her as it was dark because the streetlights were blocked by trees,” State Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief Supt Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali was quoted by the news portal as saying.
A post-mortem conducted at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital revealed that the victim died from head and chest injuries.
