‘Datuk’ businessman’s three ‘outriders’ arrested

A Datuk businessman’s three ‘outriders’ caused a major traffic crawl after they stopped traffic on the Connaught Highway yesterday to allow easy passage for their boss’ vehicles.

The obnoxious move resulted in the arrest of all three men — aged 27 to 35 years — by a police patrol team at 1.15pm, Bernama reports.

“They blocked traffic to allow (passage of) their employers’ two cars, accompanied by a Proton Inspira equipped with blue directional lights and with a siren switched on,” Kuala Lumpur Traffic chief ACP Nazri Hussain was quoted as saying.

According to Nazri, the three cars — a BMW, a Proton Inspira and a Bentley— carrying four people, including the business man, were not registered as government-owned vehicles.

The driver of the Bentley had also failed to produce a firearms licence for a Beretta automatic pistol with 10 bullets found on his waistband, Bernama reports.

The case has been filed under Section 170 of the Penal Code for masquerading as civil servants.
