Cyber security expert: posting your selfies online could expose you to black magic

Posting your selfies online could leave you open to attacks by practitioners of black magic, says the representative of a online security firm.

Yup.

Speaking to Harian Metro, Jazannul Azriq, corporate communications officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, an actual national agency operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, warned Malaysian netizens from going overboard with posting up photos of themselves online, lest unscrupulous parties use those online images to cast evil spells on them.

“Don’t be surprised if you find out that bomohs are getting more tech-savvy these days,” he cautioned.

“They might be installing wireless broadband in their homes in order to carry out their evil magic on unsuspecting victims.”

Faced with such dire possibilities, Jazannul – who, we might remind you, is on the payroll of a Federal Government agency – urged Malaysians not to share photos of themselves on Facebook, Instagram, and other online social media networks … unless they want to one day be subjected to the crutiatus curse.

(Yes. We know. The header photo is from The Lord Of The Rings; the example we gave is from Harry Potter. We believe in shared cinematic unverses, is what we’re saying.)

To be fair, Jazannul did have some sound advice to give during his talk with HM: sharing your home address, phone number, and other personal details online is not a good idea, regardless of whether or not a warlock is stalking you.

But seriously: don’t share your selfies. Someone might use them to turn you into a frog, or worse yet, someone whose face shouldn’t be selfie’d.
