A couple who wanted to have a #YOLO moment in Penang got what they asked for when they got stuck in pine trees while parasailing.
According to a report by The Star Online, the incident took place around 6.30pm on Monday when the couple, believed to be from Singapore, decided to go parasailing in Batu Ferringhi, Penang.
Shortly after take off, they suddenly veered sharply to the left and they got caught among the pine trees, nearly 20 meters above ground.
The parasailing operators, better known as beach boys among the locals, reportedly used a tractor to rescue the couple, who were reportedly stuck in the pine trees for more than 30 minutes.
“They didn’t understand the instructions.
“They pulled on the left para-cord and the parasail veered into the treeline as soon as they were in the air,” a local beach boy, who declined to be named, told the news portal.
Thankfully, the couple suffered nothing but bruised egos in the incident.
This wasn’t the first time incidents like these have happened in Batu Ferringhi, as parasailing accidents are pretty common.
Back in October 2013, a tourist from Saudi Arabia died after she plunged more than 10 meters into the sea while parasailing at the popular beach.
In February this year, two Jordanians suffered injuries to their spines after they fell 8 meters to the ground during landing.
Barely a week later, a Middle Eastern tourist got caught in a flagpole while parasailing.
Then, in August, two Japanese tourists had to be rescued when they were trapped in a tree for 40 minutes following a failed landing.
