A couple has been arrested by the police and more than RM1.2 million worth of drugs were seized from their luxury condominium in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
State deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan told The Star Online that police believed the rented condominium was used as a drug processing laboratory.
Thaiveegan said the couple’s three children – including a toddler and a disabled child – were handed over to their relatives after the raid.
The couple, aged 31 and 35, reportedly used the condominium as a drug lab since nine months to a year ago.
“During the raid, we seized more than 3,000 ecstasy pills, ecstasy powder, ketamine, methamphetamine, ganja and caffeine powder and equipment used to process drugs,” Thaiveegan was quoted as saying, adding that the couple has been remanded until June 13.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
