KL police conducted four separate raids last Saturday to shut down a Nigeran drug syndicate, seizing RM2.18 million in illicit drugs and arresting seven suspects, including a a local woman.
Federal Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Comm Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the suspects, aged 23 to 39, were arrested after about five months of surveillance by the Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING).
“Four of the male suspects are Nigerians while the other two are from Zambia and Sierra Leonne.
“The local woman, aged 27, allegedly one of the suspect’s girlfriend, worked as a nurse at a private hospital.
“We have also identified her as the drug mule in the syndicate,” he said today.
Comm Noor Rashid added that the four drug raids on Saturday were conducted simultaneously at about 10am.
The suspects are being remanded until Friday.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1953.
