Penang police are combing through an oil palm plantation in search of the body of a five-year-old girl believed to have been killed by her own mother.
The lead came after police interrogated the child’s mother, who confessed to bludgeoning her daughter to death.
According to a report by the New Straits Times’s Predeep Nambiar she had earlier filed a police report claiming that her daughter had gone missing on Sept 23 while on a trip to Padang Kota Lama.
It was only after questioning that the mother admitted to beating the child and accidentally killing her, the report said.
The daily reported that the mother and her boyfriend later dumped the girl’s body at the plantation.
