Cops in Johor arrest man who hit his wife with a shoe

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) apprehended a man whose recorded assault on his own wife (with a shoe!) went viral on social media, near Kluang, Johor last night.

The suspect, 44, was picked up at his home by arresting officers at around 7.30pm.

Also seized from the suspect’s house were a pair of black shoes, which were believed to have been used in the attack three days prior to the arrest.

Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Din Ahmad told Bernama that intial investigations revealed that the suspect was suffering from mental illness, and has been referred to the Kluang Hospital for treatment.

The suspect has also been placed under a four-day remand order by the police.
