Cops crack open “Geng Ben” burglary and car theft operation

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) say they have brought down a house break-in and car theft operation known as “Geng Ben” with the arrest of two local men and two foreign women connected to the syndicate in KL on Monday.

Dang Wangi police chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad told Bernama that the four gang members were apprehended while they were in a Volkswagen, during a special operation at a condominium in Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz.

A small bag containing the keys to various luxury cars was found after inspecting the Volkswagen.

“Seven cars valued at about RM1 million were found in the parking area of the condominium.”

“Among them were four Volkswagens, a Mercedes Benz, an Audi and a Honda City,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Zainuddin added that preliminary investigations into the four suspects found them having been involved in Geng Ben activities for the past two years.

One of the four suspects has a prior criminal record connected to a murder case in Johor. All four suspects are being investigated under Section 413 of the Penal Code for attempting to dispose of stolen property.

Zainuddin said Geng Ben’s modus operandi was to break into a victim;s house and steal the keys to the luxury cars parked outside, before escaping with the stolen vehicles. The gang is said to have been active in KL, Kedah and Ipoh.
