Following an early morning raid on Wisma MPL, in the heart of the city, eight police officers, including one female, have been placed under arrest after testing positive for drugs.

Forty-seven individuals were detained in the 1am raid on a local entertainment center, with a military official and magistrate also among those taken in. Although the latter tested negative for drugs, the army official’s urine was found to be positive. Eleven police officers who tested negative for drugs were also among those arrested, and are expected to face disciplinary proceedings.

Malaysia’s inspector-general of police, Abdul Hamid Bador, had previously issued an edict banning cops from the Royal Malaysian force from frequenting such entertainment centers — a loose term that describes anything from a nightclub to a karaoke bar to a gaming spot.

Those taken into custody ranged between 20 and 30 years old.

The raid on the high-end office building’s first floor entertainment center also turned up a transparent package that investigators believe contained drugs, although they did not specify what kind.

Tall order for a Monday night, popo. Respek.
