A 31-year-old policeman was found dead with a gunshot wound on his chest in his apartment in Penampang, Sabah on Thursday.
Sabah Criminal Investigation department chief Datuk Salehuddin Abdul Rahman told The New Straits Times that a loud explosion was heard from the Cyber City apartments at 9.40am and the police were notified shortly after.
“Upon arrival, investigators found a policeman with a gunshot wound on his chest.
“It is believed he was shot following an argument with his wife,” Salehuddin was quoted as saying, adding that the victim’s 28-year-old wife has been detained to facilitate investigation.
The policeman’s remains were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for post mortem.
Salehuddin added that the case has been classified as murder.
