The former police commando convicted of murdering Mongolian model and interpreter Altantuya Shariibuu has been arrested in Brisbane, Australia.
Sirul Azhar Omar was one of two men found guilty of committing the controversial murder in 2006.
As he was in Australia at the time of his death penalty sentencing, the Australian government announced it would not authorise his extradition to Malaysia, as the country’s law do not allow for the extradition of any person to face a death sentence.
The arrest came after Sirul’s inclusion in the list pof individuals wanted by the International Police (INTERPOL), Astro Awani reports.
