Contraflow on LDP to continue until June

Contraflow traffic at the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) will remain for another three months.

The New Straits Times’ Nuradzimmah Daim reports that the trial period — which began in December — has been extended to June 7 to address the mixed reactions from some road users.

Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak) chief executive officer Sazally Saidi was quoted as saying that traffic conditions have improved significantly since the implementation of the contraflow last year, especially from the Petaling Jaya toll plaza towards the Federal highway.

“Out of the 500,000 LDP daily users, 32 per cent have shifted to the contraflow lane. We have also received complaints by highway users who got confused with the traffic flow. This is why we decided to extend the trial and fine tune the system. If we see further improvements, we might implement this permanently,” he told NST.

The new daily traffic system begins at 6.30am for almost three hours from KM21.0 — opposite UOB bank and HSBC bank — just after the IOI Mall, Puchong.

This enables motorists coming from Puchong/ Putrajaya/ Shah Alam to bypass the morning rush hour traffic as they head towards Kelana Jaya.
