The construction shaft along Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya, in which a Toyota Vios fell a couple of days ago is now covered as a safety measure to prevent similar incidents.
The Star Online‘s Rashvinjeet S. Bedi reports that as preliminary work had completed on Wednesday, the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry (KeTTHA) ordered that the hole be sealed with a concrete slab.
“This measure is to prevent any object from falling into the shaft,” the ministry had said in a statement.
A metre-high concrete slab will be placed along each open shaft as a long term safety measure as construction work to install sewerage pipes continues at the site, the report said.

On Tuesday two people were injured when their car plunged some 12 metres into the open shaft. Firemen managed to save the two and both were sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for treatment.
Authorities had issued a stop-work order immediately after the incident to review closed-circuit television footage of the accident.
