A commando serving with the Malaysian Armed Forces was charged by the Parit Magistrate’s Court with possessing a T-shirt emblazoned with the logo of Middle Eastern terror organisation Islamic State (ISIS).
The military man, 28-year old Mohd Abu Haliff Shah Abu Bakar, allegedly committed the offence at his home in Bota, Perak at 1.30pm on November 12 last year.
He was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which prohibits the promotion or glorification of terror movements or any illegal organisation.
If convicted, the commando could face up to seven years in prison, or a fine.
Abu Haliff pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him, Bernama reports.
The court set March 9 for mention of the case.
