This was no laughing matter for comedian Harith Iskander.
The funnyman revealed in a Facebook post last night that pictures of him and his three-year-old son were featured on a local pornographic site, together with photographs of other children.
Refusing to reveal the name of the site, Harith, 48, said he had come to know if its existence after a Google Alert.
“Google Alert brought to my attention that pictures of my son (and of me cradlig my son) as well as numerous photographs of other children appear in a local pornographic site alongside graphic porn images.”
“I say local cause the text is in Bahasa Malaysia. It’s both disgusting and incredibly disturbing and needless to say I am in the process of contacting MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) to see what action can be taken,” Harith wrote in the post yesterday.
Horrified fans advised Harith to make a police report along with the complaint to MCMC.
Vijay Saravanen Vasudevan wrote: “For now is MCMC, once domain name and owner identified you can seek legal address if they are in Malaysian soil. But if they are Registered outside you need to look into international law. You can trace the owner of the website by using many Web host services like mynic, domain search etc”
Others questioned if they should keep their children’s photos on the web.
Zijin Tan wrote: “Yeah that is why we should NOT post photos of our children on FB or any other social media sites” while Suresh Naidu wondered if he should delete all his kids photos from the web.
