Cloud-seeding is being carried out daily to produce rain over water catchments and dams nationwide.
This was to make up for drying wells over the past month due to drought that came with the El Nino phenomenon, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Madius Tangau said.
“It is critical for us to increase the volume of water in the dams and catchments in a short time,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
The need was urgent, he added, adding that the country had received only 16 percent of the usual amount of rainfall.
Daily cloud-seeing will continue for as long as the cumulus clouds — conducive for rain — are still present, he said.
