Close to 9,000 traffic offenders surrender in first week of Ops Warta

It has been a week since traffic police decided to get serious with traffic offenders through its crackdown — Ops Warta — and so far 8,946 people have surrendered. 

The most number of traffic offenders to turn themselves in came from Selangor at 2,267 followed by Johor with 1,979 people, Bernama reports.

Ops Warta was launched on May 19 to track down repeat traffic offenders who failed to settle despite having warrants of arrest on their names.

So far, federal traffic police have arrested 1,790 people including 528 who are expected to be charged.
