An Indonesian cleaner probably had the shock of his life when he stumbled upon a luggage bag with a highly-decomposed body stuffed inside it.
According to The New Straits Times, the cleaner discovered the bag, which had reportedly gotten stuck in a rubbish trap on the Klang river, at around 8.30pm on Saturday. He then immediately alerted the police.
Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusoff Mamat told the daily that based on the visible wounds on the body, the victim was very likely murdered.
“The deceased was believed to have been killed elsewhere, two to four weeks ago. He was found with his legs bound and he had slash wounds on his head, too.
“Our investigation shows that the deceased was not robbed, as all of his valuables were with him,” ACP Yusoff was quoted by the daily as saying.
ACP Yusoff added that despite not having any identification on him, police believe that the victim was of Chinese ethnicity and was in his 50s.
The victim, ACP Yusoff added, wore full dentures and a magnetic bracelet on his right hand, and was wearing a short-sleeved, red and blue checked collared shirt and a pair of brown knee-length pants.
The police also reportedly found an inhaler in the victim’s pants, and an Oris watch on his right wrist.
The cause of death has yet to be determined and the case will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, according to ACP Yusoff.
