Samona Marhama, a 35-year-old cleaner at heavily trafficked Berjaya Times Square mall, is being praised by officials and citizens alike after promptly handing over a wallet she found that contained nearly RM13,000 (US$3,000) in cash.

New Straits Times writes that the incident occurred October 9, although police have only made it public now, as no-one has come forward to claim the lost money.

While there was no ID, police have added that there were photos, as well as foreign currency, inside the wallet

Samona found the wallet while she was cleaning the third-floor diaper changing room, and although there were no identifying documents indicating who the owner could be, she told reporters that she returned it because she felt that it was civically responsible to turn it in, and so should all of us in that situation, she added.

“I found it, and without thinking for long, I handed it over to the management,” she told curious reporters.

Police have thanked her, and are urging the owner to come forward to the Tun HS Lee police station to claim their lost goods.

Incredible. Give this woman a medal, and the keys to the city. She is how all of us should be, all the time.
