Cigarette prices up by RM1.50 from today

Several cigarette brands are reportedly increasing their prices by RM1.50 starting today.

The Rakyat Post reports that the brands are Dunhill, Kent, Benson & Hedges, Lucky Strikes, Pall Mall, Rothmans and Peter Stuyvesant, all produced by British American Tobacco (M) Berhad (BAT Malaysia).

The portal quotes a statement by the Commercial Merketers and Distributors Sdn Bhd as saying an excise duty hike had raised prices.

Smokers would now have to pay RM14 a pack for Lucky Strike and Rothmans International, RM13.50 for Dunhill, Benson & Hedges and Kent and RM12 for Peter Stuyvesant.
