It’s going to be a black, smoky Christmas for a mall in Kuching when one of its Christmas trees caught fire on Wednesday.
According to a report by The New Straits Times, the incident happened at around 9.35am.
A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman told the daily that the department received a distress call at around 9.39am and seven firemen were dispatched to the scene.
“The fire was already put out when the team arrived at the scene,” the spokesman was quoted as saying.
Initial investigations revealed that the fire reportedly started due to a short circuit from the wires attached to the tree.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident as mall employees acted quickly to prevent the fire from spreading.
