China dolls go crazy on enforcement officers in George Town

Several Immigration enforcement officers suffered injuries during a raid at an entertainment outlet in Gurney Drive early Friday morning.

According to The Star Online, two women — believed to be drunk — smashed several bottles on the table and went crazy when the enforcement officers tried to handcuff them for failing to show their travel documents.

State Immigration Department operations chief Fairuz Ismail told the news portal that the outlet was raided to check on alleged vice activities.

“Several women tried to provoke us by smashing beer bottles on their table, and threatened our officers.

“Three officers sustained minor injuries, but we managed to control the situation.

“We believed that the women were drunk and lost control of their senses,” Fairuz was quoted as saying.

Six women from China and five women from Vietnam, aged between 18 and 35, were arrested during the raid.

“We will be investigating the case also under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 to see if the women had been exploited,” Fairuz was further quoted as saying, adding that the 35-year-old owner would be investigated for allegedly employing illegal immigrants.
