Twenty days after giving birth to their first child, and while still technically in confinement (a period of 30 days observed in Malay culture where the woman stays inside with her newborn baby), Dayang Nebellah Awang Astillah, aka Bella, found herself, along with her mum, at a Cheras karaoke center looking for her husband last Thursday.
To make matters worse, turns out her husband, Singaporean singer/actor Aliff Aziz, was inside. With his Izinkan Aku Mencintaimu drama co-star Afifah Nasir. No word on what song the two were singing.
The incident made headlines after police were called to what was allegedly an assault situation that ensued, with Bella sustaining injuries, and filing a police report.
At a press conference yesterday, Bella confirmed that she had withdrawn the police report. She said that the assault allegations were a misunderstanding, and that she was “disappointed” to read such news. Let it be noted that she received treatment for minor face and knee injuries at Universiti Medical Center after the incident.
New Straits Times reports that Aliff admitted that he had made a mistake in going out with another woman that was not his wife. While he has apologized to his wife, he is aware that he has hurt her, and vows that “this will be the first and the last.”
It’s been said “never say never,” but isn’t ‘only once’ just the same? Sure, you may not sing another song in Cheras, but maybe next time it will be a dance in Puchong. Will we ever stop making promises we know we can’t keep? Carrie Bradshaw, is that you? How did you get here?
We digress.
Aliff has said that the time has been incredibly “emotional” for him and Bella, and that the time of reflection has allowed him to realize the wonderful wife he has.
Great, Aliff. I’m happy that all of this made you realize you actually, like really, love your wife.
You know what everyone loves? A cliché! Jk. They’re the worst.
For his part, Aliff has called on his co-star Afifah to clear up the matter, as “only those who were involved in the incident truly [know] what transpired.”
Great deflection, bro. Classic.
Here’s the thing: she isn’t married. She didn’t leave her baby behind to go sing Journey songs with someone else in a seedy karaoke joint. That was you. She doesn’t need to explain herself. You do, and have, so leave it and go make it up to your wife.
But here are some words of advice from your co-star, and singing partner, Afifah’s Instagram pic of herself and her bf:
“What’s important in a relationship is trust … After all, what’s the point of showing to the world that your relationship is perfect when the truth is, you’re just faking it and living a miserable life.”
So, trust, and like, try not to live a miserable life.
K, bye!
