Cartoonist Zunar – known for his satirical drawings – had his office raided by police yesterday, with 149 copies of his books reportedly seized.
The Star Online’s Austin Camoens reports that the raid took place at 10.30am yesterday while Zunar was away in London.
“He was not around. So, we seized some of his books for investigation. The case is being probed under the Sedition Act,” KL CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad was quoted as saying.
According to the report Zunar, who was reportedly expected to speak at Oxford and Cambridge universities, had tweeted ““Police in my office, looking for me. But I am currently in London. So they are taking all my books.”
According to subsequent tweets by Zunar, the books in question were entitled “Pirates of Carry BN” and “Conspiracy to Imprison Anwar”.
