A family of seven was injured after the car they were travelling in went out of control and plunged into a 80m-deep ravine along the Ranau bypass near Kota Kinabalu on Sunday.
According to The Star Online, the driver, 43-year-old Azahli Md Dalley – together with his wife Laila Lusin, 40, and their children, aged between three and 12 – was on the way to Kudat when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle at a corner and plunged into the ravine at around 3.30pm.
Kota Belud police chief Supt Mohd Zaidi Abdullah told the news portal that passers-by and rescue personnel saved the victims from the ravine.
Laila, Azahli and son Mohd Fikrey were seriously injured while the others sustained only minor injuries, Supt Mohd Zaid told The Star.
The husband and wife, meanwhile, were reportedly in stable condition but Mohd Fikrey was still in critical condition at the Kota Belud hospital.
