Bus falls into ravine: one dead, nine injured

One man is dead and another nine are injured after a bus plunged 20 meters down a ravine, about 20km outside of Bintulu.

The express bus, en route from Bintulu to Sibu, was said to have veered out of control and fell into the ravine, flipping over several times. 

The accident happened at 3.30pm yesterday, and left 10 passengers, including the driver, trapped in the wreckage. 

A spokesperson from the Bintulu Fire and Rscue Departmentsaid seven men and a fire engine with wreckage extraction equipment were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 3.40pm.

A 41-year old man from Sri Aman was pronounced dead at the the scene. The nine injured were taken to the Bintulu Hospital.
