A bus driver suffered a heart attack while he was being assaulted by five men, one armed with a knife, in Bukit Tambun, Nibong Tebal on Saturday.
According to The Star Online, the incident happened at 6.30pm when the 52-year-old was exiting the Bukit Tambun toll when a car with five men reportedly stopped in front of him and entered the bus.
OCPD Supt Shafee Abdul Samat told the news portal that one of the assailants suddenly started slashing the victim with the knife while the rest of the men assaulted him.
The victim reportedly suffered slash wounds on his forehead, face, right arm and his abdomen.
Supt Shafee said the police were alerted about the incident and a patrol car was dispatched to the scene.
“He was then sent to the Penang Hospital to undergo immediate surgery.
“We are now trying to determine the motive of the attack,” Supt Shafee was quoted as saying.
