It was a scary experience for a group of passengers when the double-decker bus they were in rammed into a stalled lorry early Thursday morning, killing the bus driver and seriously injuring three others.
According to The New Straits Times, the horrific accident happened at 4.20am at KM285 of the North-South Expressway near Simpang Pulai. The bus was reportedly ferrying 35 passengers and was heading south.
Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Department head of operation Abd Manaf Hashim told the daily that firemen took about an hour to free the driver, who was reportedly stuck under the lorry.
The driver was then rushed to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun but he died at the hospital.
Abd Manaf added that the remaining passengers of the express bus, including a baby, suffered only minor injuries.
