Burst pipes are making water rationing problems in PJ and Rawang worse

Burst pipes in Petaling Jaya and Rawang are complicating the channelling of water to the surrounding areas involved in the water rationing plan affecting Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) corporate communications and public affairs assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred said in a statement that channelling of water to affected areas commenced as soon as repairs were done on the burst pipes.

“There are also areas not listed in the water rationing plan but experienced water supply disruption and this was caused by burst pipes or other faults in the water distribution system, not by the rationing exercise,” she said, according to The Malay Mail Online

On requests from many quarters that Syabas cease water rationing altogether, Priscilla reiterated that the decision was the Selangor state government’s to make, and that the role of Syabas was only to distribute the water supply to consumers and to implement the rationing exercise.

She said the first, third and fourth stage of the water rationing plan were still on. The implementation method is two days with water and two days without water.
