A 39-year-old foreigner, who reportedly broke into cars in Subang Jaya and Ampang to help fund his karaoke business back home, has been arrested by the police.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias told The Star Online that the police arrested the suspect during a crime prevention patrol near Taman Melawati in Kuala Lumpur on May 25.
“When police started to search his sling bag, he tried to make a dash for it but was caught.
“We brought him in for questioning and he confessed to breaking into a car the day before,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the suspect would target cars parked in deserted and poorly lit areas.
ACP Hamzah was also quoted as saying that the man is linked with at least six car break-ins in Subang Jaya and eight in Ampang.
“He would bring back whatever he had stolen to his country where he claims to operate a karaoke outlet,’’ he told news portal.
