Burglar door-kicks himself to death

A burglar died after trying to break into the offices of a law firm in Petaling Jaya.

In the incident which happened in Sea Park between 3am and 4.30am yesterday, the 40-year old man had tried to gain entry into the office lot by kicking through the front glass door. He pierced his leg on a glass shard and subsequently started bleeding to death.

PJ deputy police chief Supt Fadil Marsus told The Malay Mail Online that police received a call informing them of a seriously injured man lying motionless in front of a pharmacy situated next to the law office.

“A police patrol team was dispatched to the scene and the suspect, who was still alive, was taken to hospital. However, he died upon arrival at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC),” Fadil said.

He said the burglar had initially tried to break the lock on the front door, but after failing to do so decided to kick the door in. This caused the glass to shatter and pierce his leg.

“Police found signs of forced entry at the entrance. A sling bag with several house break-in tools were also found,” he said. The police also believe the man had acted alone.

“We have identified the deceased and have informed his family members,” Fadil said.
