Always glib, consistently controversial Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin suggested in Parliament yesterday that Malaysia should move to restrict information on the Internet relating to Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 to protect Malaysians from the wrath of angry Chinese nationals who lost their relatives onboard the jetliner.
According to him, the stream of bad news concerning the airplane’s case – now assumed lost at sea, with no survivors among the 239 onboard, which included 153 Chinese nationals – could incite Chinese citizens to vent their anger on Malaysians aborad.
“With our uncontrolled media, everything can be uploaded to their heart’s content. What will then happen?” Bung asked in Parliament yesterday.
“What will happen if Chinese citizens believe in such issues? They will riot and torture any Malaysians wherever they are. We don’t want this to happen.”
Bung made the remark as a representative of the Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club, while debating an emergency motion on MH370 proposed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
