At this point, no one’s really surprised with whatever Kinabatangan MP and UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Buang “Bung” Mokhtar says or does anymore – because hey, this is the guy who proposed we censor the Internet so people in China wouldn’t be able to find out more things to be angry at Malaysia for after Flight MH370 disappeared.
But this being World Cup season, there’s always a surprise or two in store. Such as this morning’s shocking 7-1 semifinal win by Germany over hosts Brazil … and Bung Mokhtar’s tweet celebrating the fact right after the match:
Yup. Bung Mokhtar pretty much heil’d Hitler on Twitter.
Even in a country as notoriously anti-Semitic as Malaysia, this tweet didn’t really go over well with the local twitterati, because if there’s one thing people on the Internet perceive as shorthand for “he shouldn’t have said that”, it’s Adolf Hitler:
True to form, Bung Mokhtar even deigned a few tweets directed to him as being worthy of a rebuttal.
That last tweet was probably in reference to P Ramasamy of the DAP, who is also Penang Deputy Chief Minister. Just so everyone’s clear that Bung Mokhtar’s racism is inclusive, universal, and all-encompassing. What a guy.
