Bullying incident leaves boy with broken spine

A 13-year-old boy suffered a broken spine after he was beat up by a group of students on Monday, according to a report by The New Straits Times.

In the 3.30pm incident, Mohd Danish Danial Al Sufian, a student at SMK Tanjung Pauh in Alor Star, was walking to his classroom when a group of Form One students stopped him in front of a computer room.

“The boy accused me of telling a teacher that he had cut his hair in a style that is against the school regulation, three months ago. The boy faced disciplinary action for the haircut and suspected me as being the one who told the teacher,” he told NST’s Embun Majid.

When he denied the accusations, the boy reportedly started pushing and punching him. Mohd Danish then fell to the ground and hit the corner of a metal shoe rack outside the computer room.

He added that the boy then kicked him in the stomach before the group ran off.

The NST reported that Mohd Danish’s uncle rushed him to the Jitra Hospital after he experienced severe back pain and had difficulty breathing. He was then transferred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) emergency ward at 10pm.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendant Abdul Hadi Hassan told NST that two 13-year-old boys were picked up for questioning and later released on police bail.
