A triad boss known as Ah Hai, allegedly the intended target of last week’s grenade explosion in Bukit Bintang, has turned himself in to the police to have his statement recorded.
KL police chief Senior Deputy Commissioner Tajuddin Md Isa said Ah Hai presented himself to the police at 9pm on Monday, and had his statement recorded until 11.45pm.
Ah Hai himself was not injured in last week’s blast, which left 13 wounded and one dead.
Tajuddin told The Star Online‘s Jastin Ahmad Tarmizi that no arrests have yet been made in connection to the incident.
He had also previously said Ah Hai was believed to be one of the key witnesses who could help the PDRM in their investigations and to establish a motive for the attack.
The attack was believed to have been carried out by members of a rival gang.
Ah Hai was reportedly present at the scene of the grenade attack, but escaped unscathed after a second grenade was thrown from the second floor of the Sun Complex building, but failed to detonate.
The 53-year old is believed to have been the leader of a Gang 21 underworld faction for more than twenty years. Gang 21 is known to be involved in illegal gambling, and other illicit activities.
Sources told The Star that of late, Ah Hai had been trying to legitimise his operations by diversifying into property development and food imports.
