Low visibility on a highway in Kelantan caused a collision between a car and a water buffalo recently.
According to Sinar Harian, a man and his family were driving back from Selisih back to Semarak where they lived when he crashed into a buffalo on the dimly lit highway.
Apparently, the buffalo was thrown in the air and landed on top of the car’s roof. Based on a video online, it seems like the animal may have passed on the spot.
Meanwhile, Pasir Puteh district police chief Superintendent Zaizul Rizal Zakaria told Sinar Harian, the man, and his three children escaped with minor injuries, however, his wife, who was seated in the passenger seat, was unconscious due to the accident and severely hurt.
“The accident happened near a wholesale market, it is understood that while passing through the dark highway the family was taken aback by the presence of a buffalo,” he said.
The wife was rushed to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital’s intensive care unit for further treatment.
The case is currently being probed under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
