Man slashes younger brother after intense argument

This is sibling rivalry at its most vicious.

A man was reportedly slashed with a knife by his older brother after a heated argument on Tuesday, according to Guang Ming Daily, as translated by The Star Online.

The younger brother, who was believed to be mentally ill, had allegedly burnt his older brother’s bedroom door earlier in the day.

According to the news report, the 40-year-old man was seriously injured in the 11.30am incident which occured at their house in Alor Setar, Kedah.

The Chinese-language daily reported that the victim was a retired soldier, while his 48-year-old older brother works as a construction worker.

A neighbour told Guang Ming Daily that he and six other neighbours rushed over to the house after they heard the younger brother screaming for help.

“We saw the elder brother holding a knife, and the younger brother’s hands and legs were slashed,” the neighbour, who only wanted to be known as Atan, was quoted as saying.

The neighbours then reportedly called for an ambulance and alerted the police.
