Boy loses three fingers after firecracker mishap

An 11-year-old boy from Kuala Kangsar learned the painful lesson on why one should not play with firecrackers.

According to The New Straits Times, Adam Haikal Mohd Sabri lost three of his fingers on his right hand and tore his palm while playing with firecrackers in Kampung Sayong Lembah on Thursday evening.

It was reported that Adam was earlier playing with his friends while waiting to break fast. Despite being warned by his family members not to play with firecrackers, Adam ignored their warning and lit up a few.

Before he was able to throw it, the firecracker exploded in his hand.

The boy’s grandmother, 64-year-old Noriah Mohd Salleh, found the boy screaming in pain and rushed him to the Kuala Kangsar Hospital by ambulance before being transferred to the Taiping Hospital at 9pm.

“Adam’s surgery was completed at around 2am this morning. He now only has two fingers – his forefinger and thumb – is now being treated at the Taiping Hospital,” Noriah was quoted as saying.
