A three-year-old boy’s fingers were caught in an escalator at a Penang mall yesterday, to the horror of the rest of his family.
The Star Online reports that Ng Juen Shen had been with his parents taking the escalator to the ground floor of a mall in George Town when he sat on a step and rested his hand on the side. That’s when his tiny fingers got caught in a gap.
The portal reports that a security guard immediately hit the emergency stop button (phew!) when he heard the boy’s father screaming for help.
Ten minutes later, Fire and Rescue Department personnel as well as mall staff managed to free his little hands. The Star Online says the skin on his hand had been ripped off to the wrist, but no broken bones or fractures were sustained.
