BOOM: Homemade bomb blows up in Sentul petrol station toilet

A homemade explosive device was believed to have been set off yesterday in a petrol station toilet in Jalan Jambu Jerteh Batu 6, Jalan Kepong, Sentul.

KL Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Gan Kong Meng said the incident, which occured at 3.55pm, was set off by  a male suspect who entered the toilet wearing a helmet with a black visor, and carrying a sling bag allegedly containing the bomb. A minute after the man exited the toilet, an explosion was heard coming from the toilet.

“We received a call at about 4.40 in the evening. Arriving there we saw three broken mirrors in the toilet including a broken toilet bowl and ceiling.

“With footage from a closed-circuit camera (CCTV), we saw the suspect was wearing a black jacket,” he said in a statement, reported by The Malay Mail Online.

Police later found fragments of drink cans wrapped in adhesive, and forensic personnel are in the process of reconstructing the explosive materials used in the incident.

“No casualties were reported and so far the police have yet to identify the real motive of the incident,” Gan said.
