A murder suspect’s body was found hanging behind an advertising billboard along a highway in Sungai Petani, Kedah, at 7.40am this morning.

The deceased was identified as Tan Kok Jooi, a 62-year-old man suspected of killing his wife Kuek Choo Hong, who was found dead at her home in Taman Kelisa Ria, Sungai Petani yesterday.

District police chief Adzli Abu Shah told reporters that the authorities received a distress call from the public regarding the body at the billboard.

“Initial investigations found that the identity of the body belonged to a murder suspect, who was being hunted down by the police to assist with our findings,” he said at today’s press conference.

A car that belonged to the deceased was found about 50 meters away from the body. The forensics team has yet to find evidence from the vehicle that might link the death to other suspects.

The case has been classified as “sudden death,” and Tan’s body has been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for post-mortem.

Yesterday, 61-year-old Kuek was found dead at her home with slash wounds on her neck and a pillow covering her face. Police suspected that the murder was done by someone close to the victim, as there were no signs of a break-in.

Although the main suspect of Kuek’s murder case has been found dead, the police will still proceed with the murder investigation.
